A true marriage is the joining together by God, not by clergymen, of a man and a woman to become one flesh, and such a marriage must not be put asunder by any man- MATTHEW 19:6. And the man that is so joined to a woman, must leave father and mother and cleave to his wife- GENESIS 2:24; MATTHEW 19:5. The wife also must leave her own people and her father’s house- PSALM 45:10. This means that parental or family interference in the matrimonial affairs of those whom God has joined together, is condemnable before God.
The first marriage ordained by God took place in the Garden of Eden, between Adam and Eve, and the two became one flesh- GENESIS 2:22-23. Therefore, the original plan of God, in marriage, is one man, one wife. The other marriage approved and ordained by God, in answer to the prayer of Abraham’s servant, was between Rebecca and Isaac- GENESIS 24:11-15, 50-51.
The most important purpose of marriage, as written in 1 CORINTHIANS 7:2, is to avoid fornication. Hence, believers in Christ are warned in 1 CORINTHIANS 6:18, to flee fornication, and marry, so that their marriages can be honourable in the sight of God, otherwise God shall judge whoremongers and adulterers, who defile the bed before marriage- HEBREWS 13:4. Most storms in marriages, can be the result of the judgment of God upon such marriages, whose beds have been defiled!
Any true church is a mixed multitude, of both the good seed and the tares. The good seed are the children of the kingdom, while the tares are the children of the wicked one, the devil- MATTHEW 13:38b. A child of the kingdom who continues in sin, is of the devil- 1 JOHN 3:8a. Such a child of the kingdom, shall be caught in marriage, to a child of the devil, who now becomes a snare to his soul- ECCLESIASTES 7:26.
For example, Ahab, the king of Israel, chosen people of God, was caught in marriage to Jezebel, a daughter of the devil- 1 KINGS 16:30-31. Jezebel turned the heart of Ahab unto the worship of Baal, her own god, according to the word of God in DEUTERONOMY 7:4. This unholy marriage relationship, made Ahab to do all that was not right in the sight of God, thereby provoking the Lord God of Israel to anger, more than all the kings that were before him in Israel- 1 KINGS 16:31-32. Jezebel stirred up Ahab to work wickedness in the sight of the Lord- 1 KINGS 21:25.
Unholy alliance, especially in marriage is one of the wiles of the devil.
