In Proverbs 23:26a it is written, “My son, give me thine heart”. Not giving one’s heart to God, is inviting Satan, to come into that heart, to fill it. Ananias and Sapphira, did not fully give their hearts to God, hence Satan filled their hearts – Acts 5:3.
The love of money hindered Judas from giving his heart to Jesus, hence Satan entered into his heart – John 13:27a. Hypocrisy, the love of money and the love of this present world hinder Jesus from coming into the hearts of many believers in Christ, and into the hearts of many men of God, thereby making them to err from the faith – 1 Timothy 6:10
The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked, who can know it? – Jeremiah 17:9. That is why Jesus who knows the hearts of all men, has to work upon the hearts, of believers in Christ, if only they will allow Him to cleanse their hearts, with His clean water, which is written in Ezekiel 36:25-26, “Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you. A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.” This clean water of God, is that incorruptible word of God, which is the word of truth. Jesus, in His prayers of intercession for His disciples, said to His Father: SANCTIFY THEM THROUGH THY TRUTH, THY WORD IS TRUTH – JOHN 17:17.
The preaching of another Jesus, or the preaching of another gospel, mentioned by Paul in 2 Corinthians 11:4, will only defile the hearts, rather than cleansing them.
A heart that is completely cleansed of all idols, and of all filthiness, by the word of truth, the clean water of God, will be fully taken over by Jesus, and thereafter sealed and filled with His Spirit – Ephesians 1:13. Such is the heart of a spirit-filled Christian, whose life is now like the wind, which Jesus spoke about in John 3:8, “The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is everyone that is born of the Spirit.”
A spirit-filled Christian is not of the world, even as Christ was not of the world -John 17:16. He/she is now crucified unto the world, and the world is crucified unto him/her, as Paul said in Galatians 6:14b.
In obedience to God’s “doctrine of separation, a spirit-filled Christian does not get himself/herself unequally yoked with unbelievers, as commanded by God, “BE YE NOT UNEQUALLY YOKED TOGETHER WITH UNBELIEVERS: FOR WHAT FELLOWSHIP HATH RIGHTEOUSNESS WITH UNRIGHTEOUSNESS? AND WHAT COMMUNION HATH LIGHT WITH DARKNESS?” – 2 Corinthians 6:14.
